Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need prior experience?
    No — the first part of the week is structured training covering both astronomy and archaeological fieldwork. The Field School is suited to both the absolute beginner and the experienced practitioner.
  2. What should I bring?
    Appropriate clothing and footwear are essential. Your own laptop and notebook will also be beneficial. A full kit list will be provided after booking.
  3. Is accommodation included?
    No — accommodation, lunches and dinners are not included. We recommend attendees to stay in central Salisbury (Wiltshire, UK) where a private coach will pick them up in the morning and drop them off in the evening. Attendees with their own vehicles will be given location details and timings.
  4. How physically demanding is it?
    Moderate to low — see “What to Expect in the Field” above.
